Jill Boultinghouse
I am licensed by the state of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT). I am a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). I have been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times and KCET on issues such as relationships, depression and adolescents. I have been a guest lecturer for the Mariposa Women's Center, Junior League of Orange County, local high schools and various other organizations. Also, I have a private practice office located on the Laguna Hills/Irvine border in Orange County. In my private practice, I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families on their mental health goals in an atmosphere based on mutual respect. It is my obligation to work as a therapist/counselor within the laws of the state of California and work within the ethical codes of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). In my work as a counselor, I am genuine and directive. I believe in working empathically and collaboratively with my clients to meet their goals. It is my belief that the process of change occurs through questioning, changing cognitive processes and gaining further understanding and insight about ourselves, our families and other systems we are members of. Some ways we can gain further understanding and insight is by identifying patterns, roles, rituals, and messages. I truly understand how difficult it can be to ask for help from a therapist, let alone decide where to turn. Many feel hopeless, embarrassed or even shame when seeking help from a therapist. It takes courage and faith to reach out. Many decide to seek help, but do not know where to turn. I firmly believe change is possible for anyone who has the courage to participate in his or her own growth. It is my pleasure to work with those of you who are able to be courageous enough to improve yourself, your relationships and your life. I have included some information for the most popular reasons why people seek treatment from me as a therapist. Although these are not the only issues I work with, they are some of the more common difficulties I see in my practice. It is my hope that this information provides you with helpful information and allows you to gain an understanding of how I work as a therapist. Most importantly, I hope it allows you to decide what course of action is best for you.
