Mother’s Day Blues

The Mother’s Day Sadness

So many times we hear how December and “the holidays’ bring on depression, but I have noticed that Mother’s Day can bring sadness, despair and depression for many.  I primarily have noticed that woman who have struggled or are still struggling with infertility can be heart broken this time of year.  Secondly I notice people who never had a good loving relationship with their mother can feel blue this time of year. And lastly those who have lost their mother can feel a dark cloud overhead this time of year.  If you are one of these people or know someone who goes through the May Mother’s Day Blues here are some things to think about.
1)  You are not alone.  Many people are sad this time of year.

2) Think of ways to take care of yourself.  What can you do to nurture (“mother”) yourself?

3) Is the pain so much that it would be good for you to speak with a professional?  A therapist can help you process and move through your grief.
